EDWARDSVILLE - A woman claims she was hit when a Ron's Shell Service Center employee was backing up a vehicle.

Mary Margarida filed a lawsuit on Dec. 15 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Mark Boyer, doing business as Ron's Shell Service Center, alleging negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Margarida was at Ron's Shell Service Center in Edwardsville on Sept. 18 when employee Kyle Marsh allegedly "struck and nearly backed over" Margarida.

Margarida claims she was caused to suffer injuries to her neck, shoulder, hip and thumb. She also claims she endured pain, mental anguish, disability and disfigurement, and became liable for large sums of money in hospital, medical and related expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant's employee negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep the vehicle under proper control, and struck the plaintiff.

Margarida seeks a judgment in an amount greater than $75,000, plus costs. Margarida is represented by Thomas Q. Keefe III of Keefe Keefe & Unsell PC in Belleville.
