EDWARDSVILLE - A motorist claims another driver caused a crash when he pulled out of a parking lot without yielding.

Darrish Davenport filed a lawsuit on Dec. 6 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Christopher Carriker and St. Louis Carriage Co., alleging negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Davenport was operating his motor vehicle going southbound on Madison Avenue on July 11, 2020. He claims that as he passed the Quiktrip, Carriker pulled out of the Quiktrip parking lot and struck the passenger side of Davenport's vehicle.

Carriker allegedly failed to maintain a lookout for other vehicles, failed to yield to the right-of-way and improperly used the lanes of traffic.

Davenport claims he was caused to suffer serious injury to his right hip, neck, right flank, back and right shoulder, medical bills, medical treatment cost and pain and suffering.

Davenport seeks a judgment for an amount in excess of $50,000, plus pre and post-judgment interest. Davenport is represented by David N. Poe of Cantor Injury Law in St. Louis.
