EDWARDSVILLE -- A driver claims she suffered a brain injury in a rear end collision at a Highland intersection.

Jeannine Friend filed a lawsuit on Dec. 6 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Katie Jansen.

According to the lawsuit, Friend was operating a 2006 Toyota Sienna and approaching the intersection of Illinois State Route 160 and Highland Road in Highland on Dec. 9, 2019. The intersection is controlled with a stop sign with a blinking red light. At the same time, Jansen was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Suburban and approaching the same intersection when she allegedly crashed into the rear of Friend's vehicle while the plaintiff was stopped at the stop sign.

Jansen allegedly failed to operate her vehicle in a safe manner to avoid a collision.

Friend claims she suffered injuries to her lower back, chest, and voice. She also claims she suffered a brain injury, incurred medical treatment expenses, suffered loss of a normal life, loss of earning capacity, disability and disfigurement.

Friend seeks a judgment in an unspecified amount that is deemed fair and reasonable, plus pre-judgment interest and cost of suit. She is represented by Roy C. Dripps of Armbruster Dripps Winterscheidt & Blotevogel LLC in Maryville.
