Motorist allegedly turned in front of traffic, caused Bethalto crash

EDWARDSVILLE -- A motorist is being sued for allegedly causing a crash after turning in front of oncoming traffic in Bethalto. 

Jessica and Andrew Sarver filed a complaint on Nov. 22 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Jacob Mennemeier. 

According to the complaint, on Nov. 27, 2019, Jessica Sarver were driving southbound on South Moreland Road when Mennemeier, who was driving northbound, drove directly into the path of the plaintiff while making a left-hand turn. 

Sarver alleges Mennemeier failed to keep a lookout for other vehicles, drove a vehicle in a manner resulting in a collision, failed to yield the right-of-way, failed to check for approaching traffic, proceeded to make a turn without stopping/yielding to other vehicles and failed to properly apply breaks.

Sarver claims she was caused to suffer extensive injuries to her body including her head, neck and left shoulder. She also claims she incurred medical expenses, disability, loss of normal life, loss of wages earned and loss of earning capacity. 

Sarver seeks an award in excess of $50,000, plus cost of suit,. Sarver is represented by Ryan M. Sweet of Swanson, Sackett and Sweet, P.C. in Edwardsville.
