Electrical supplies company seeks repayment of $2.8 million

EAST ST. LOUIS - An electrical parts supplier claims a solar energy company owes it more than $2.8 million.

Rexel USA, Inc. doing business as Gexpro, filed a federal lawsuit on Nov. 18 in the District Court for the Southern District of Illinois against ITS Solar, LLC and Richard C. Schmidt, Jr.

According to the complaint, Rexel "supplies electrical parts and components for electricians and contractors as well as large industrial organizations." ITS Solar "transacts business in the solar energy industry. Its only two members are Richard Schmidt Sr. and Richard Schmidt Jr.

The lawsuit alleges that ITS Solar and Schmidt owe Rexel USA $2,856,897.62 plus interest as was agreed to between both parties in the form of a promissory note created on Sept. 23, 2020, in Waterloo, Ill. 

Rexel USA seeks to collect the unpaid balance, plus attorney's fee and legal expenses. The plaintiff is represented by Richard M. Goldwasser of Schoenberg Finkel Beederman Bell Glazer LLC in Chicago.
