Woman sues over Johnson Road crash

EDWARDSVILLE -- A motorist is suing another driver for allegedly causing a collision on Johnson Road.

Valeria M. Willis filed a lawsuit on Nov. 17 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Joseph Paul, alleging negligence and willful wanton misconduct. 

According to the complaint, Willis was operating a 2017 Nissan Altima on April 1. She was traveling east on Johnson Road while Paul was operating a 2013 Volkswagen Passat. He was also traveling east on Johnson Road when he allegedly collided into Willis after failing to take evasive action to avoid the collision.

Willis claims she was caused to suffer injuries to her neck, back, left shoulder, abdomen and hip. medical expenses for care and treatment, continuing pain, lost wages, lost earning capacity and disfigurement, the suit states. 

Willis seeks an award in excess of $50,000, plus costs and all other relief the court deems just. Willis is represented by Rodney D. Caffey of The Caffey Law Firm, LLC.
