EDWARDSVILLE — A driver and passenger claim they were injured in a rear end collision in Edwardsville when another motorist was speeding and driving while distracted.

Annie Williams and Lashay Short filed a complaint Nov 16 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Colton Miller and Colton Mueller, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Williams was driving a Buick on Commerce Drive near the Amazon Distribution Center in Edwardsville with Short riding as a passenger. The plaintiffs claim the defendants, who were operating a Dodge Avenger, collided with the rear of the Buick and caused them to suffer injuries to their necks, backs, knees, hips and other parts of their bodies.

Williams and Short allege the defendants were driving while distracted and were driving too closely to their vehicle. The plaintiffs also allege the defendants were speeding, failed to swerve to avoid the collision or warn of the impeding crash.

The plaintiffs claim that also as a result of the defendants' negligence, they suffered loss of normal life and incurred medical treatment expenses.

The plaintiffs seek compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. They are represented by Michael Glisson and Taylor Fehrenz of Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson in Alton.
