EDWARDSVILLE — A customer claims she slipped and fell near the condiment station at a QuikTrip in Granite City.

Verneda Edwards filed a complaint Oct. 20 in the Madison County Circuit Court against QuikTrip Corporation, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Edwards was at the QuikTrip located on Nameoki Road in Granite City on Aug. 14. She alleges she tripped on "an unnoticeable recess" in the floor near the condiment station, which caused her to fall and suffer significant injuries.

Edwards claims QuikTrip failed to properly maintain the area, failed to provide a safe walking area for customers, failed to warn of the hazard and negligently operated, maintained and managed the establishment. Edwards further claims that QuikTrip had a duty to use reasonable care in the ownership of its store and its failure to do so caused her fall and injuries.

Edwards seeks monetary relief of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by John Hipskind and Brady McAninch of Hipskind & McAninch LLC in Belleville.
