EDWARDSVILLE — A homeowner alleges the roofing contractor she paid failed to complete the project on her home.

Delores King filed a complaint Nov. 10 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Nathaniel McCloud, doing business as Nathaniel's Roofing & More, alleging breach of contract and other claims.

King alleges in her suit that she contracted with McCloud Roofing on July 2, 2020, to perform modifications to her home. She claims she paid the defendant the first of three installments of $26,384.30. However, King claims McCloud has failed to start the work or complete the work by the agreed upon date of Sept. 22, 2020.

King further claims that McCloud started to replace the roof in October 2020 and that the project was left incomplete until May 2021. King alleges the delay has caused extensive damages to the inside of her home as well as to her personal property.

King alleges that she received an invoice from McCloud Roofing for $1,234 for labor that was not provided as well as a "penalty fee" and that her "construction funding source" expired, which caused her to seek new funding "at risk of denial and negative credit reporting."

King seeks compensation of more than $44,000, trial by jury and all other proper relief. She is represented by John G. Kochanski of McCarthy & Allen in Edwardsville.
