EDWARDSVILLE — A motorcyclist claims he was injured when a truck driver backed into his lane of travel and caused the plaintiff to crash.

Robert Conway filed a complaint Nov. 8 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Billy Dunnagan and ADR Inc., alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Conway was operating his Yamaha Vstar motorcycle southbound on Alhambra Road in Madison County on Sept. 7. At the same time, Dunnagan was driving a Peterbilt 379 and attempting to back up his vehicle. Conway alleges that as he approached the intersection of Reding Road, Dunnagan came into his lane of travel, which caused him to "lay his vehicle down onto the ground and slide."

Conway claims he suffered injuries to his leg, ribs, shoulder, ankle and other parts of his body, which caused him to incur medical expenses and suffer lost wages.

Conway alleges Dunnagan was negligent for failing to yield the right of way, failing to properly stop at a stop sign and failing to keep a proper lookout. He further alleges Dunnagan did not have any "cones and/or other warning devices" to alert other drivers, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to drive his vehicle "in accordance with his employment polices and procedures."

Conway seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. He is represented by Michael Glisson and Timothy Chartrand of Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson in Alton.
