BELLEVILLE — A motorist claims he was injured when another driver ran a stop sign in East St. Louis and caused a collision.

Terrell Gordon filed a complaint Oct. 22 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Terrance Butler, alleging negligence.

According to his complaint, Gordon was driving his vehicle on North 3rd Street near the intersection of East Broadway in East St. Louis on Sept. 6, 2021. He claims Butler ran a stop sign at the intersection and struck his vehicle.

As a result of the collision, Gordon claims he suffered injuries, disability and disfigurement. He also claims he incurred medical treatment expenses.

Gordon alleges Butler was negligent for failing to operate his vehicle in a safe and proper manner, failing to keep a proper lookout and failing to avoid the collision. He also alleges Butler was speeding and failed to slow down or swerve and that Butler endangered the safety of persons or property in violation of the Illinois law.

Gordon seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. He is represented by John Hipskind and Brandy McAninch of Hipskind & McAninch LLC in Belleville.
