EDWARDSVILLE — A family claims they were injured in a Godfrey crash allegedly caused by a drunk driver.

Jason Arrowsmith, Beth Arrowsmith, individually and as next friend and next of kin of Lucca Arrowsmith, a minor, and Beth Arrowsmith as next friend and next of kin of Caroline Arrowsmith, a minor, filed a complaint Nov. 5 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Pamela Patton, Port of Grafton Loading Dock Incorporated, doing business as The Bloody Bucket, and others, alleging negligence and Dram Shop claims.

According to the complaint, Jason Arrowsmith was operating a Volvo on Nov. 27, 2020, with the other plaintiffs as passengers. They were stopped at a stop sign at an intersection in Godfrey. The plaintiffs allege Patton was driving her Infiniti while intoxicated and attempting to make a right hand turn when she collided with their vehicle. The plaintiffs allege the collision caused airbag deployment and caused them to suffer injuries.

The Arrowsmiths claim Patton made too wide of a turn, was speeding, failed to properly change lanes and failed to properly utilize the lanes. The plaintiffs also allege Dram Shop Act violations against the defendant bars that allegedly sold Patton alcoholic beverages.

The plaintiffs allege they suffered bodily injuries as well as lost wages and incurred medical treatment expenses.

The plaintiffs seek compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. They are represented by Timothy Chartrand of Williamson Webster Falb & Glisson in Alton.
