Former Days Inn employee claims she was fired for being pregnant

EDWARDSVILLE — A former employee at a Days Inn in Collinsville claims she was fired due to being pregnant. 

Victorya Hart filed a complaint Nov. 1 in the Third Judicial Circuit for Madison County against BGMR RMDC LLC doing business as Days Inn by Wyndam of Collinsville and doing business as Days Inn of Collinsville alleging civil rights violations. 

According to Hart's complaint, she was hired to work at Days Inn in Collinsville. She alleges that after informing her supervisor that she was pregnant, she was fired from her job. 

Hart claims she was wrongfully terminated because of her pregnancy and received a right to sue from the EEOC. 

She alleges that as a result of being terminated, she suffered emotional distress, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life and other damages. Hart also claims the defendants violated the Illinois Human Rights Act and The Civil Rights Act of 1991. 

Hart seeks compensation of more than $50,000, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Michael Brunton of The Brunton Law Offices PC in Collinsville.
