You have the right to be forced to comply

Our View
Ourview

It is not a violation of this Act for any person or public official, or for any public or private association, agency, corporation, entity, institution, or employer, to take any measures or impose any requirements, including, but not limited to, any measures or requirements that involve provision of services by a physician or health care personnel, intended to prevent contraction or transmission of COVID-19 or any pathogens that result in COVID-19 or any of its subsequent iterations. It is not a violation of this Act to enforce such measures or requirements, including by terminating employment or excluding individuals from a school, a place of employment, or public or private premises in response to noncompliance.

That’s an excerpt from an amendment, proposed by Evanston State Rep. Robyn Gabel (D), to the Illinois Health Care Right of Conscience Act. It may technically be an amendment, but the term “amendment” doesn’t quite capture the full effect of it. “Reversal” or “repeal” might be more accurate.

Judge for yourself. Here’s what the original law says:

It shall be unlawful for any person, public or private institution, or public official to discriminate against any person in any manner, including but not limited to, licensing, hiring, promotion, or any other privileges, because of such person’s conscientious refusal to receive, obtain, accept or participate in any way in any particular form of health care services contrary to his or her conscience.

So, according to the provisions of the original act, an employee with a conscientious objection to an employer’s vaccine mandate could ask for a religious exemption and expect to receive one. Under the terms of the act amended as proposed by State Rep. Gabel, that same employee could ask for a religious exemption and be denied and subjected to termination for refusing to comply.

1984 is here, folks. It may be 37 years late, but it’s here now. Words mean nothing. Truth is what the public servants who have become our masters say it is.

If you’re not okay with that, encourage a mass turnout at the next election and throw out the bums in state government. The dictators have shown us repeatedly they have no respect for your liberties. They will never admit they were wrong for infringing on them, or stop taking them away from you.
