EDWARDSVILLE — An Alton casino patron claims he was injured when he fell down the stairs and suffered fractured ribs.

Doug Mulholland filed a complaint Oct. 4 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Alton Casino LLC, doing business as Argosy Casino Alton, alleging negligence.

Mulholland alleges he was at the Argosy Casino in Alton on Oct. 26, 2019, and attempted to use the outdoor steps to descend to the first floor when he slipped and fell down the length of the steps.  He claims the steps were unsafe and that the defendants should have blocked off access to the steps. He alleges he had observed the steps being blocked off in the past.

Mulholland claims he relied on the casino to "undertake its voluntarily assumed duties with due care."

As a result of his fall, he claims he suffered fractured ribs and other injuries, lost wages and incurred medical treatment expenses.

Mulholland seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. He is represented by Thomas Lech and Jennifer Wagner of Goldenberg Heller & Antognoli PC in Edwardsville.
