Lawsuits

BELLEVILLE — A driver who allegedly ran a red light and caused an injury collision on Frank Scott Parkway in St. Clair County is facing a negligence claim.

Ryan Hetman filed a complaint Sept. 14 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Zachary Taylor, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Hetman was driving a Honda Passport on Frank Scott Parkway on Jan. 2, 2020. He alleges that Taylor was driving a Chevy Malibu on North Green Mount Road and approaching Frank Scott Parkway. Taylor allegedly ran a red light and collided into Hetman's Honda.

Hetman claims that as a result of the collision, he suffered severe injuries, disability, disfigurement and became liable for "large sums" of hospital and medical bills.

He alleges Taylor was negligent for failing to keep a proper lookout and failing to operate his vehicle in a safe and proper manner. Hetman also alleges Taylor failed to decrease his speed, failed to swerve or stop to avoid the collision and failed to obey the traffic signal.

Hetman seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. He is represented by John Hipskind and Brady McAninch of Hipskind & McAninch in Belleville.
