EDWARDSVILLE —  A woman alleges her husband's doctors and nurses failed to properly diagnose and treat his myocardial infarction, resulting in his death.

Linda Spivey, as representative of the Estate of Patrick Spivey, deceased, filed a complaint Sept. 10 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Brian Erickson, M.D., Granite City Emergency Physicians, Granite City Illinois Hospital Company LLC, doing business as Gateway Regional Medical Center, and others, alleging wrongful death.

According to the plaintiff's complaint, Patrick Spivey sought medical care and treatment from the defendants on Jan. 6, 2020. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly diagnose and timely treat Patrick Spivey's myocardial infarction and negligently failed to address his pain, which led to his death. Linda Spivey also alleges Erickson and other physicians and nurses who were agents of the defendants negligently caused her to suffer the loss of her husband's love, companionship, society and support. She also alleges she incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiff seeks compensation of more than $75,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by Samantha Unsell of Keefe, Keefe & Unsell PC in Belleville.
