EDWARDSVILLE — A driver allegedly struck a minor who was crossing at a pedestrian crosswalk in East Alton, causing him to suffer injuries.

Misty Lilly, individually and as next friend to Tristan Gilkey, a minor, filed a complaint Sept. 9 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Cindy Blair, alleging negligence.

According to the plaintiffs' complaint, Gilkey was walking across a crosswalk on West Main Street in East Alton on Oct. 24, 2019. Lilly claims Blair, who was driving her Chrysler PT Cruiser on West Main, failed to yield the right of way at the pedestrian crosswalk and struck Gilkey.

The plaintiffs allege Gilkey suffered injuries to his leg and other parts of his body and continues to suffer pain and mental anguish as a result of the collision.

Lilly alleges Blair was speeding, failed to keep a proper lookout and drove while distracted. Lilly also claims Blair also failed to warn of the impending collision or try to maneuver to avoid hitting Gilkey.

The plaintiffs seek compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. They are represented by Michael Glisson and Timothy Chartrand of Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson in Alton.
