EDWARDSVILLE — A widow is being sued for allegedly failing to pay more than $64,000 to a Maryville nursing home that provided care to her husband.
Elmwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center LLC filed a complaint Sept. 10 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Sharon Inman, alleging breach of contract.
Elmwood alleges in their complaint that Inman entered into an oral contract with them to provide skilled nursing services for her husband Terry Inman. The plaintiff claims the defendant promised to make payments for her husband's care upon request but has failed to make any of the requested payments. Elmwood claims the defendant now owes $64,450 for skilled nursing services and goods for her husband's care from May 25, 2017, through Sept. 28, 2020. They allege the defendant acted as Power of Attorney for her husband and "should have reasonably expected that her promises of payment would induce" them to provide for his care.
Elmwood seeks compensation of more than $68,450 and all other just relief. They are represented by John Wendler of The Law Offices of John D. Wendler in Edwardsville.
