BELLEVILLE — A woman claims a Belleville snowplow driver failed to yield the right of way and collided with the driver's side of her vehicle.

Jennifer Crockett filed a complaint Sept. 2 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Jared Clements and the City of Belleville, alleging negligence.

According to her suit, Crockett was driving her Mercedes Benz and traveling eastbound on West Main Street in Belleville on Feb. 15. She alleges Clements was operating a snowplow and "improperly negotiated a right turn," causing the snowplow to crash into the driver's side of the plaintiff's vehicle.

Crockett claims Clements was traveling at an unsafe speed for the traffic conditions, failed to keep his vehicle under control and failed to yield the right of way. She also claims Clements failed to decrease his speed or swerve to avoid the collision.

Crockett alleges that as a result of the collision, she suffered severe and permanent injuries, disfigurement and incurred "large sums" in medical treatment costs.

Crockett seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by John Hipskind of Hipskind & McAninch LLC in Belleville.
