EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist and passenger claim they suffered serious injuries in a rear end collision on Route 159 in Glen Carbon.
Shane Schultze and Lisa Schultze filed a complaint Aug. 30 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Sarah Chomko, alleging negligence.
The plaintiffs allege Shane Schultze was stopped in his truck with Lisa Schultze as his passenger. They were in the left turn lane at the intersection of Illinois Route 159 and Junction Drive in Glen Carbon on Oct. 31, 2019. They claim Chomko, who was driving her Nissan Altima in the same turn lane, collided with the rear of their truck.
The plaintiffs claim that as a result of the collision, Shane Schultze suffered neck and back injuries and Lisa Schultze suffered severe and permanent injuries including to her back. The Schultzes also claim they suffered pain, mental anguish and incurred more than $2,700 in medical treatment expenses as a result of their injuries.
They allege Chomko was negligent for failing to keep her car under control and for failing to apply her brakes or attempt to avoid the impending collision.
The Schultzes seek compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. They are represented by Jeffrey Kopis of Jerome, Salmi & Kopis LLC in Fairview Heights.
