EDWARDSVILLE — A shopper claims she was injured when she slipped on an air freshener on the restroom floor at the Granite City Walmart.

Carmen Huff filed a complaint Aug. 25 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Walmart Inc., alleging negligence.

Huff alleges in her complaint that she was at the Walmart on Pontoon Road in Granite City on Aug. 26, 2019, when she allegedly slipped on an air freshener that had been left on the floor of the family restroom. As a result of the fall, Huff alleges she suffered injuries to her knees, rib cage, chest muscles and groin.

Huff claims Walmart was negligent for allowing the air freshener to remain on the floor of the family restroom when the defendant had "actual and/or constructive notice" of the dangerous condition and failed to clean and maintain the restroom. Huff also claims Walmart failed to warn of the hazard in the restroom,

The plaintiff claims she suffered disability, disfigurement, lost income and incurred medical treatment expenses.

Huff seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by Patrick Sullivan of Pratt & Tobin PC in East Alton.
