BELLEVILLE — A motorcyclist claims he suffered head injuries when a driver attempted to turn right from the left lane of Alby Street in Alton, causing a collision.

Jerry Hand filed a complaint Aug. 16 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Janis Wendle, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Hand was driving his Kawasaki ZR 1200 A southbound in the right hand lane on Alby Street in Alton on July 19. He alleges Wendle was also driving her vehicle on Ably Street when she attempted to make a right hand turn from the left lane, crossed into his lane and collided with his motorcycle.

Hand claims that as a result of the collision, he suffered injuries to his head and incurred medical treatment expenses.

Hand alleges Wendle was speeding, failed to stay in her lane and was driving while distracted. Hand also alleges Wendle was negligent for failing to keep a proper lookout and failing to warn or maneuver to avoid the collision.

Hand seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. He is represented by Michael Glisson and Timothy Chartrand of Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson in Alton.
