EDWARDSVILLE — A mother whose son was a passenger in a vehicle that was involved in a collision at an intersection in Godfrey is suing both of the drivers.
Lori Jackson, individually and as next of friend and next of kin of James Jackson, a minor, filed a complaint Aug. 3 in the Madison County Circuit Court against William Hayne and Nicholas Corrigan, alleging negligence.
According to the plaintiffs' suit, James Jackson was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Corrigan that was traveling on Godfrey Road near the intersection of Taylor Avenue in Godfrey on Oct. 21, 2020. They allege Hayne had a red traffic signal or yellow turn signal facing his vehicle but failed to obey the traffic light, colliding with Corrigan's car.
The plaintiffs allege that James Jackson suffered a concussion, injuries to his leg and required medical treatment.
They claim Hayne was negligent for speeding, failing to stop at the traffic light, driving while distracted and failing to yield the right of way to Corrigan's vehicle. The plaintiffs allege Corrigan was negligent for speeding up at a yellow light, driving while distracted and failing to maneuver to avoid the collision or to warn of the crash.
The plaintiffs seek compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. They are represented by Michael Glisson and Timothy Chartrand of Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson in Alton.
