EDWARDSVILLE — An Edwardsville framing and foundation construction company is accused of firing an employee in retaliation for filing a workers' compensation claim.

Steven Jordan filed a complaint  Aug. 6 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Integrity Framing & Foundation LLC, alleging retaliatory discharge.

According to the complaint, Jordan was employed by Integrity Framing and Foundation when he allegedly suffered on the job injuries on Oct. 1, 2020. He claims he notified Integrity of his work-related injury on Oct. 6, 2020. He claims he was later fired on Feb. 2, and was provided "no legitimate basis" for his discharge.

Jordan claims his termination was in retaliation for filing a Workers' Compensation claim.

He alleges that as a result of his discharge, he suffered lost wages, benefits, promotions and "costs associated with securing subsequent employment." Jordan also alleges he suffered humiliation and mental anguish because of his discharge and that the defendant violated the Illinois Workers' Compensation Act.

Jordan seeks compensation of more than $75,000 and all other proper relief. He is represented by Keith Short of Keith Short & Associates PC in Alton.
