Man alleges truck driver struck his parked vehicle on the shoulder of I-55

EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist claims he was injured when a truck driver his his vehicle as he was stopped on the shoulder of the road. 

Curt A. Kruckenberg and Carolyn Kruckenberg filed a complaint Aug. 5 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Cress Crook Ventures LLC and Guy M. Lang, alleging negligence. 

Kruckenberg alleges in his complaint that he was driving on Interstate 55 on Aug. 20, 2020, when another motorist made him "aware that he may need to secure cargo on his trailer." He pulled over to the shoulder with his hazard lights flashing when Lang allegedly struck his vehicle, causing it to roll into the center median. 

He alleges Lang, who was employed by Cress Crook, failed to maintain his lane of travel, failed to keep a proper lookout and made an unsafe lane change from the right to the left lane. Kruckenberg also alleges Lang failed move his truck away from the plaintiff's vehicle as it was stopped on the shoulder or take any "evasive actions" to avoid the collision. 

Kruckenberg alleges Cress Crook was negligent for its hiring, retention, supervision and training of Lang.

Kruckenberg seeks compensation of more than $50,000, interest, trial by jury and all other proper relief. He is represented by John Simon and Erica Slater of The Simon Law Firm PC in St. Louis.
