EDWARDSVILLE — A driver is accused of driving through a Springfield parking lot at an excessive speed, causing a collision with another vehicle.

Pamela McLaughlin as special administrator of the Estate of William E. Hall, deceased, filed a complaint Aug. 5 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Dana Ford, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Hall was driving his vehicle on West Carpenter Street in Springfield near the entrance to a parking lot on Sept. 12,  2019. The plaintiff alleges that Ford, who was driving her vehicle through the parking lot,  failed to yield the right of way and collided with Hall's vehicle.

The suit states Hall died on Jan. 26, of causes unrelated to the suit, but that he did suffer injuries to his back and other parts of his body and incurred medical bills as a result of the collision.

The plaintiff alleges Ford was speeding, driving while distracted and failed to keep a proper lookout. She also alleges Ford was negligent in failing to reduce her vehicle's speed or maneuver to avoid the collision.

The plaintiff seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by Michael Glisson and Taylor Fehrenz of Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson in Alton.
