EDWARDSVILLE — A bus passenger claims she was injured when a woman crashed her employer's van into the bus in Granite City.

Queriba Gilmore filed a complaint Aug. 4 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Tamikia Moses, Stearns Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Aurora Cares LLC, doing business as Tara Cares LLC, alleging negligence.

According to her complaint, Gilmore was a passenger on a Madison County Transit bus on Sept. 9, 2019, that was driving on Pontoon Road in Granite City. She alleges that the defendants' employee Moses was driving a van when she suddenly merged into the right lane and collided with the bus.

Gilmore claims she suffered injuries to her head, neck, back and ribs and that those injuries have been "disabling and progressive," causing her to incur medical expenses.

She alleges that Moses failed to yield the right of way, was speeding and failed to keep a proper lookout while driving her employer's van. Gilmore also alleges Moses was negligent "in attempting to overtake" the bus without allowing for a safe distance between the vehicles.

Gilmore seeks compensation of more than $75,000, trial by jury and all other proper relief. She is represented by John Wilbers of The John Wilbers Law Firm LLC in St. Louis.
