EDWARDSVILLE — A vehicle passenger claims she suffered injuries and had to be hospitalized after a collision on Illinois Route 111.

Tanesha Wheaten filed a complaint July 29 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Amanda Fisher, Leslie Stormie and Calesha Richard, alleging negligence.

According to her complaint, Wheaten was a passenger in a vehicle being operated by Richard. They were traveling on Illinois Route 111 on Dec. 14, 2019. Wheaten alleges Fisher, who was driving Stormie's vehicle east bound on Chain of Rocks Road, entered an intersection on a red light and struck Richard's vehicle "with great force and violence."

Wheaten claims she was "thrown about the inside" of the vehicle and suffered severe and permanent external and internal injuries. She alleges her injuries caused her to be hospitalized and incur "large sums" in medical care and treatment costs.

Wheaten alleges the defendants were driving at an excessive speed, failed to keep a careful lookout and failed to yield the right of way and obey the traffic signal at the intersection.

Wheaten seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by Jacqueline Cichon of Polansky & Cichon CHTD in Chicago.
