EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist claims she was injured when an intoxicated driver caused a rear-end collision in Edwardsville.

Amanda Niebling and Benjamin Niebling filed a complaint July 7 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Macayla Thompson, alleging negligence.

According to the plaintiffs' complaint, Amanda Niebling was driving her vehicle at the intersection of St. Louis Street and Elm Street in Edwardsville on March 6, 2020. They allege that Thompson, who was operating her vehicle directly behind Amanda Niebling's car, crashed into her vehicle and caused her to suffer severe and permanent injuries as well as incur medical treatment expenses.

The plaintiffs also claim Amanda Niebling's vehicle "sustained impairment."

The plaintiffs allege that Thompson was driving while intoxicated and failed to obey the traffic control device or keep a proper lookout and failed to reduce her vehicle's speed to avoid the collision.

The Nieblings compensation relief of more than $50,000, plus interest and all other just relief. They are represented by Brian Wendler and Angie Zinzilieta of Wendler & Zinzilieta PC in Edwardsville.
