EDWARDSVILLE — A passenger alleges she suffered trauma and injuries after a speeding driver allegedly failed to stop in time for a red light and caused a crash.
Kaprishya White filed a complaint July 8 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Faultless Linen Supply Co., and Keith M. Hurst, alleging negligence.
According to her complaint, White was a passenger in a Chevrolet Camaro that was driving on Illinois Route 3 near the intersection of Bissell Street on July 17, 2019. She alleges that as the driver of the Camaro was attempting to make a left-hand turn, Hurst, who was employed by Faultless Linen and operating their truck, failed to stop for the red light and collided with the Camaro.
White claims that as a result of the collision, she suffered injuries to her arm as well as "trauma and injury" to her spine, neck and back and suffered lost wages due to her injuries.
She further claims Hurst was speeding and failed to keep a proper lookout or apply his brakes in time to stop before entering the intersection.
White alleges she also incurred medical and health care expenses as a result of the collision.
White seeks compensation of more than $50,000, plus interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Brent Sumner of The Sumner Law Group LLC in Clayton, Mo.
