EDWARDSVILLE — The insurer of a couple who allegedly suffered serious injuries in a crash in Nameoki Township is suing the other driver and his employer.

Progressive Advanced Insurance Company, a/s/o Tommy Nguyen and Kim Nguyen, filed a complaint July 1 in the Madison County Circuit Court against James R. Hickam and Courtney Odell, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Progressive's insured Tommy and Kim Nguyen were injured in a crash that took place on Horseshoe Lake Road in Nameoki Township on Oct. 2, 2019. They allege the Nguyens endured "great pain and suffering" and required medical treatment as a result of their injuries. They also allege their vehicle "was greatly damaged." The plaintiffs claim Hickam, who was acting as an agent or employee of Odell, failed to yield the right of way and disregarded traffic signals. They further claim Hickam was speeding and negligently failed to maintain control of his vehicle.

The plaintiff seeks compensation of more than $52,437.62 and all other just relief. They are represented by Brad Krapfl and Kevin Keeley of Keis George LLP in Chicago.
