EDWARDSVILLE — A carpenter at a energy substation claims he was struck by a falling light tower that was not installed with proper safety features.

Timothy S. Klasing filed a complaint June 29 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Nu Way Concrete Forms Troy LLC, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Klasing was employed as a carpenter by McGrath Associates and was working on an alternative energy project and shutdown at the Turner substation in Franklin. Klasing alleges he was measuring and marking lumber when he was struck by a light tower that fell over due to the windy conditions, causing him to suffer injuries.

Klasing claims the light tower, which was owned and stored for subsequent rental by Nu Way Concrete, was installed without all of the proper safety features, including a rear jack stand. He claims the defendant failed to notice the missing rear jack during the light tower inspection and installation.

Klasing alleges he has suffered permanent disability and disfigurement and incurred medical expenses as a result of the incident.

Klasing seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. He is represented by Brad Badgley of Brad L. Badgley PC in Belleville.
