EDWARDSVILLE —  A driver claims she was seriously injured when the tire on another vehicle flew off and struck her car on St. Rose Road.

Francine Frey-Korte filed a complaint June 23 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Parker Nungesser, alleging negligence.

The plaintiff claims she was driving her vehicle westbound on St. Rose Road in Madison County on Aug. 3, 2019, while Nungesser was driving eastbound on the same road. Korte alleges a tire from the front of Nungesser's vehicle came loose and struck the front of her vehicle, which caused her to swerve off the road.

The plaintiff claims that as a result of the incident, she suffered "extensive" injuries to her head, limbs, neck, back, shoulder and to her muscles, ligaments, tendons and nerves. She also claims she has incurred medical treatment expenses as a result of her injuries.

Korte alleges Nungesser was negligent for failing to check his vehicle for the unsafe tire before driving and failing to properly use his brakes or keep a lookout for other vehicles on the road.

The plaintiff seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by John Hustava in Collinsville.
