EDWARDSVILLE — A pedestrian claims he was crossing an intersection in Alton when two vehicles crashed and struck him.

Jack Starkey filed a complaint June 15 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Steven Meyer and Jamey Delp, alleging negligence.

According to his complaint, Starkey was a pedestrian attempting to cross Main Street in Alton near the intersection of East Broadway on June 22, 2019. He alleges Meyer was driving his vehicle westbound on East Broadway and Delp was driving his vehicle near the intersection of East Broadway when the two vehicles collided. Starkey claims the collision caused Meyer's vehicle to "ricochet and strike" him while he was in the crosswalk.

Starkey alleges he suffered injuries to his neck, feet, ankles and other parts of his body.

He claims the defendants were driving at too fast a speed for the conditions, failed to obey traffic control signals at the intersection and failed slow down when a pedestrian was crossing the roadway.

Starkey seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. He is represented by Samuel Mormino, Jr. of Mormino Belloff & Snider PC in Alton.
