EDWARDSVILLE — A suit alleges minors who were passengers in a vehicle suffered serious injuries in an Alton collision.

Emira Hightower, a minor, by her father and next friend Eric Hightower, and Eric Hightower, individually, Erick Hightower, Jr., a minor, by his father and next friend, and others filed a complaint June 11 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Georgia S. Turner, alleging negligence.

According to the plaintiffs' complaint, the minor plaintiffs were passengers in a vehicle being driven by their grandmother and were traveling on Central Avenue near the intersection of Riley Avenue in Alton on June 12, 2019. They allege that Turner, who was driving her vehicle near the same intersection, collided with their vehicle and caused the plaintiff minors to suffer injuries.

The plaintiffs claim Turner was negligent for failing to reduce her speed and failing to obey the traffic signal at the intersection. They further claim Turner did not keep a proper lookout or attempt to brake or maneuver her vehicle to avoid the collision.

The plaintiffs allege that they have also incurred medical treatment expenses as a result of the collision.

The plaintiffs seek compensation of more than $50,000, and all other just relief. They are represented by Rodney Caffey of The Caffey Law Firm in Godfrey.
