EDWARDSVILLE — A driver who allegedly failed to pass in a safe manner and caused a collision on Horseshoe Lake Road is accused of negligence.
Amber E. Parker and Baylee R. Parker, a minor, filed a complaint June 8 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Jacqueline L. Woods, alleging negligence.
Amber Parker was driving on Horseshoe Lake Road in Madison County on June 12, 2019, with Baylee Parker as a passenger, according to the plaintiffs' complaint. The plaintiffs allege that as Amber Parker attempted to make a left hand turn onto Arlington Drive, Woods, who was driving her vehicle eastbound on Horseshoe Lake Road, "approached and struck" the plaintiffs' vehicle.
The plaintiffs allege that Amber Parker suffered "severe and permanent" injuries to her knee, shoulders and back and that Baylee Parker also suffered serious injuries to her back, and neck. The plaintiffs claim Woods failed to yield the right of way, failed to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles on the road, failed to pass in a "legal manner" and failed to slow down in order to avoid the crash.
The plaintiffs seek compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. They are represented by Patrick Sullivan of Pratt & Tobin PC in East Alton.
