Driver, passenger sue over Highland Avenue crash

Lawsuits

EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist is being sued for allegedly driving through an intersection in Madison County and causing a collision that resulted in injuries.

Jeremy J. Hendricks and Andrew Vaughn filed a complaint May 24 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Brandi S. Stewart, alleging negligence.

The plaintiffs were traveling southbound in their vehicle on Highland Avenue on Sept. 18, 2020, according to their complaint. They allege that as they arrived at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Harrison Avenue, Stewart drove her vehicle through the intersection without yielding the right of way and crashed into their vehicle.

The plaintiffs allege they both suffered injuries, incurred medical treatment expenses and suffered lost wages as a result of their injuries. They claim Stewart was negligent for failing to yield to oncoming traffic, failing to keep a proper lookout and was not operating her vehicle in a safe manner.

The plaintiffs seek monetary relief of more than $50,000, interest and all other proper relief. They are represented by Ben Sansone of Sansone & Lauber in Clayton, Mo.
