Lawsuits

EDWARDSVILLE — A renter who allegedly fell through the floor in his mobile home claims his landlord ignored numerous requests to repair the floor.

Thomas Ackerman filed a complaint May 25 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Mohammed Jalali, doing business as Lake Shore Estates alleging negligence.

Ackerman, who was a tenant at the defendant's mobile home park in Granite City, alleges in his complaint that he made "numerous requests" for the floor in his mobile home to be repaired. He claims it was in "significant disrepair." He alleges the defendants failed to respond to his request. Then on April 8, 2020, Ackerman allegedly fell through the floor and suffered "serious and permanent" injuries.

Ackerman alleges the defendants were negligent for failing to repair the floor or make any temporary repairs to the floor in order to make it safe. He also alleges that as a result of his injuries he has lost wages and incurred about $15,000 in medical treatment expenses.

Ackerman seeks monetary and all other proper relief. He is represented by Thomas Kemper of Butler & Kemper in Granite City.
