EDWARDSVILLE — A woman claims she slipped at a Burger King in Pontoon Beach and required metal plates and screws in her arm as a result of her injuries.
Kimela G. Murphy filed a complaint May 6 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Broadway Restaurant Group LLC, alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, Murphy was at the Burger King on East Chain of Rocks Road in Pontoon Beach on Feb. 1 when she allegedly slipped on "a liquid and/or greasy substance" that was on the floor of the "single-person restroom" and suffered injuries.
Murphy claims that as a result of her injuries, she required emergency surgery and had permanent metal plates and screws implanted in her left arm. She alleges the defendants were negligent for failing to make the restroom "reasonably safe," failing to inspect the area, failing to properly remove or clean up the liquid and failing to warn of the hazard.
Murphy seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by Amanda Hayden of The Hayden Law Firm in St. Louis.
