Alton bar sued over patron's alleged assault

Lawsuits

EDWARDSVILLE — A man claims he was attacked in the parking lot of an Alton restaurant and bar and suffered serious injuries.

Tyler Babcock filed a complaint May 6 in the Madison County Circuit Court against 3rd Chute II LLC, doing business as 3rd Chute Bar & Grill II, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Babcock claims he was a customer at the 3rd Chute Bar & Grill II in Alton on Oct. 17, 2020, he was attacked by another patron and suffered "severe and permanent" injuries. He alleges the bar was negligent for failing to control and monitor its premises and to provide adequate security. Babcock also alleges the defendants failed to "supervise its facilities," including its parking lot. Babcock claims his injuries were the result of the defendants permitting its premises to "become and remain" dangerous and unsafe and failed to "exercise reasonable care."

Babcock seeks monetary and all other just relief. He is represented by Benjamin Tobin of Pratt & Tobin PC in East Alton.
