Passenger alleges injuries from Madison County Transit bus collision

Lawsuits

BELLEVILLE — A woman with a seeing eye dog claims she was severely injured while riding a Madison County Transit bus when it collided with a tractor trailer.

Kimberly Hallows filed a complaint April 28 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Madison County Transit, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Hallows and her seeing eye dog were passengers on a Madison County Transit bus on Nov. 2, 2019. She claims that as the bus traveled on I-55 near the intersection of Mile Post 3 in East St. Louis County, the driver failed to stop or yield the right of way and caused the bus to collide with a tractor trailer.

Hallows alleges she suffered severe and permanent injuries as a result of the crash.

She claims the Madison County Transit driver was negligent for failing to stop or swerve to avoid the collision. She further alleges the driver was speeding and failed to keep an "adequate lookout ahead and to the side."

Hallows seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by Daniel Finney, III of Brown & Brown LLP in St. Louis.
