BELLEVILLE — A man has filed a suit against a driver that struck him with a vehicle as he was attempting to cross the street at an intersection in Belleville.

Ian Sullivan filed a complaint April 5 in the Circuit Court for St. Clair County against Donald Funke alleging negligence.

Sullivan claims in his suit that he was crossing the street near the intersection of South 20th Street in Belleville on May 2, 2019, when Funke struck him with his vehicle.

He alleges that as a result of the accident, he suffered injuries to his neck, back, wrist, leg and knee, emotional upset as well as incurred medical treatment expenses. Sullivan claims Funke was negligent in failing to yield the right-of-way and for driving "at an excessive speed." In addition, Sullivan claims Funke failed to "keep a careful lookout while operating his vehicle" and did not stop or slow down after he knew "there was a reasonable likelihood of a collision."

Sullivan seeks monetary relief of more than $50,000, trial by jury and all other proper relief. He is represented by John Wilbers of The Wilbers Law Firm LLC in St. Louis.
