Motorcyclist hits pothole in Days Inn parking lot, suffers injuries

EDWARDSVILLE — A motorcyclist is claiming negligence after he drove into a pothole at a Days Inn in Pontoon Beach, fell off his bike and suffered multiple injuries. 

Kevin Jordan filed a complaint April 14 in Madison County Circuit Court against Shyamji Corp doing business as Days Inn and Village of Pontoon Beach, Illinois alleging negligence. 

According to Jordan's complaint, he was driving his motorcycle on the Days Inn hotel property on Chouteau Trace Parkway in Pontoon Beach on April 20, 2020. He alleges that he drove into a "ditch or pothole" on the roadway, fell and suffered a clavicle fracture and multiple fractures in his foot and required "operative treatment." 


Carlson

Jordan claims the defendants' parking lot/roadway was in a dangerous condition and that they were negligent for failing to inspect the area and warn of the hazard. He also claims the defendants failed to repair the parking lot and allowed it to remain in a dangerous condition. 

Jordan seeks monetary and all other just relief. He is represented by Eric Carlson of Byron Carlson Petri & Kalb LLC in Edwardsville.
