BELLEVILLE —  A Canadian transport company's tractor-trailer driver is accused of negligently changing lanes and causing a collision on Interstate 255.

Douglas Tanksley filed a complaint March 24 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Karanveer Chawla and Ameri-Can Systems, alleging negligence.

Tanksley claims in his suit that Chawla was operating an Ameri-Can Systems tractor trailer on Interstate 255 in St. Clair County on Nov. 13, 2019, when he struck Tanksley's vehicle while changing lanes.

Tanksley alleges the collision caused him to suffer injuries to his head and brain that resulted in headaches and dizziness. He also claims he suffered injuries to his neck, back, ligaments, hands, wrist, chest, shoulders, ankles and knees.

Tanksley alleges in his complaint that Chawla failed to "keep a careful lookout" and drove at an excessive speed while crossing into his lane after attempting to pass.

Tanksley seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other proper relief. He is represented by Robert Pedroli, Jr., of Pedroli & Gauthier LLC in Clayton, Mo.
