BELLEVILLE — A long-term care facility in Lebanon is facing a suit alleging its negligent care caused a resident to suffer injuries.

Ellen Rhein and Eric Rhein, as guardian and next best friend, filed a complaint March 9 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Cedar Ridge Health and Rehab Center, alleging violation of the Illinois Nursing Home Act and consumer fraud.

According to the complaint, Ellen Rhein was a resident of the Cedar Ridge Health and Rehab Center in Lebanon. She alleges that during her time as a resident at the facility, she suffered abuse and /or neglect. The plaintiffs claim Ellen Rhein suffered neglect, malnutrition and pressure ulcers.

The plaintiffs claim Rhein suffered physical and emotional trauma, disability and disfigurement. The plaintiffs also allegedly incurred medical treatment expenses. The plaintiffs claim Cedar Ridge's negligence in caring for Rhein constitutes violation of the Illinois Nursing Home Act.

The plaintiffs seek compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. They are represented by Grey Chatham of Chatham & Baricevic in Belleville.
