Defamation suit alleges woman was falsely accused of arson

Lawsuits

BELLEVILLE — A St. Clair County woman alleges she was falsely accused of arson and harassment.

Holly Norton filed a complaint March 12 in the Circuit Court for St. Clair County against Pamela Wall-Dover, alleging defamation and other claims.

According to the complaint, Wall-Dover had a fire at her residence in St. Clair County. She allegedly reported to her insurer, fire officials, the Stookey Township Road Commission and the St. Clair County's Sheriff's Department that the plaintiff was responsible for the fire.

Norton alleges Wall-Dover filed an order of protection against her, which was dismissed on Feb. 23, 2021. Norton claims Wall-Dover committed perjury by testifying under oath that she intended to cause Wall-Dover harm and that she "should be considered armed and dangerous." Norton also alleges Wall-Dover fabricated "claims of harassment" against her as well as published defamatory material with false allegations that she committed arson.

Norton seeks monetary relief, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by attorney John Pawloski in St. Louis.
