Lawsuits

BELLEVILLE — Touchette Regional Hospital and one of its physicians is accused of failing to diagnose and treat a patient's myocardial infarction.

Clifford Conway filed a complaint March 5 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Richard Shaffer, M.D., Envision Physician Services LLC and Touchette Regional Hospital Inc., alleging negligence.

According to Conway's complaint, he came under the care of the defendants on Aug. 2, 2019. While under their care, Conway alleges the defendants failed to diagnose his myocardial infarction, failed to evaluate and transfer him in a timely manner and failed to take a proper physical and proper medical history.

Conway alleges that as a result of not being properly diagnosed and treated for his myocardial infarction, he suffered permanent pain, mental anguish, disability and disfigurement. He further alleges he has incurred medical treatment expenses for hospitalization, lost income and has been unable to attend to his usual affairs.

Conway seeks compensation of more than $75,000 and all other just relief. He is represented by Samantha Unsell of Keefe, Keefe & Unsell PC in Belleville.
