Suit alleges KSDK employee ran stop sign, caused collision in Shiloh Valley Township

Lawsuits

BELLEVILLE — A couple is suing KSDK Channel 5 after one of its employees allegedly caused a car crash in Shiloh Valley Township.

Paul Meyer and Brenda Meyer filed a complaint Feb. 12 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against John Mohler, Multimedia KSDK Inc., Multimedia KSDK LLC and Tegna Inc., alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Paul Meyer was driving his vehicle on Mascoutah Avenue with Brenda Meyer riding as a passenger. They were approaching the intersection of Illinois Route 158 in Shiloh Valley Township on March 6, 2019. He claims Mohler, who was driving his vehicle on Illinois Route 158 and approaching the same intersection, failed to yield the right-of-way and struck Meyer's car. The suit states that Mohler was employed by KSDK, which operates a television station in St. Louis. Mohler was operating a vehicle owned by KSDK while in the scope of his employment.

Meyer claims Mohler was speeding, failed to stop at the stop sign and failed to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles, which caused Paul Meyer to suffer bodily injuries.

The Meyers seek compensation of more than $50,000, and all other just relief. They are represented by Kevin Boyne of Kevin Boyne PC in Belleville and Jason Going of The Law Office of Jason Going in Belleville.
