EDWARDSVILLE — A Staunton Pub that allegedly served a drunk driver and the woman who rented him a vehicle are accused of negligence.

Adam Gregor filed a complaint Feb. 19 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Skeeter's Pub Inc., Kyle Rothe and Frances Manley, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Rothe had been drinking alcoholic beverages at Skeeter's Pub on South Hackman Street in Staunton on Feb. 20, 2020. Gregor claims that Rothe drove while intoxicated. Rothe allegedly crossed over into the northbound lane of traffic on Illinois Route 157, struck his vehicle and caused him to suffer injuries.

Gregor claims Manley had rented the vehicle Rothe was driving from Enterprise Leasing Company, which allegedly "had personal knowledge" of Rothe's "tendency or likelihood to use" the vehicle "in a manner involving "an unreasonable risk of harm to others." He further claims it was known that Rothe had "habitual recklessness and other poor judgement" while operating motor vehicles.

Gregor seeks monetary relief of more than $50,000 and all other proper relief. He is represented by Ely Hadowsky of Brown & Brown LLP in St. Louis.
